Introduction to the Practice

In this section, you will be introduced the practice of interior design. The practice has seen many changes and attempted changes in recent years, including the growing controversy surrounding licensure and the trend reversing from more regulation to less regulation of both title and practice. Because your Pile text was revised in 2006, the new movement toward resisting and repealing regulatory schemes is not reflected. In order to fully understand how licensing affects a designer’s title and/or scope of practice, you will need to download and read Designing Cartels, Dick Carpenter, Ph.D., Institute for Justice, before completing this section.
